Farnborough Business Park were honoured to welcome personnel from 70 Squadron along with Airbus Defence and Space staff. Our VIP’s were privileged to be given a tour of our Historic Wind Tunnel as part of the Squadron’s Centenary Celebrations.

LXX Squadron RFC was formed at Farnborough on 22 April 1916, with Sopwith 1 & 1/2 Strutters. Personnel were immediately deployed to Fienvillers in France on the western front. This year they traced the Squadrons first steps from its formation at Farnborough, to the airfields in France from where it first operated. They viewed the battlefields of the Somme, in which the Squadron was heavily involved in 1916. Today they are the first operational RAF Squadron to fly the Airbus A400M, the latest generation of tactical airlift aircraft.
